The Wonderful World of Texting, it has really changed the way we communicate. I remember back when I was a sophomore in high school , about 8 years ago, when I got my first cell phone and I began to Text. I also remember texting in class, and that's why it was so popular to text, it was because you were able to do it in class with out the teacher really knowing, you just had to make sure your cell phone was on vibrate or silent. I can remember like it was yesterday when I got my first phone and started to text. Texting lasted for a few years then I stopped, no one was really texting anymore. I think it was T-mobile who had started out this whole texting business or phenomenon. That was the first plan I had, and I got more texting then minutes. I have had many different phone services over the years and I am about to change from Nextel to AT&T, yes, so I can get the iPhone. I am still not sure if I want to get the iPhone or just the regular blackberry curve. The best thing now is texting.
I send video and picture messages to my brothers and friends all the time. I think its great. I even send text messages to my mom and dad, so i don't have to answer 100 billion questions my mom asks, so they just text me, but if I don't respond, then they call. And the funny thing about that is that my mom knows the computer very well, being a teacher, but my dad, owning his own construction business, only knows how to turn on his computer to do his bills and paper work, and that is an old IBM. He doesn't know who to work the new computers or even surf the web, but he does know how to Text, so he is moving along, very slowly. My basketball coaches today even text me. They know that we will definitely get a text message, rather then a missed call. It is almost a little creepy having your coaches text you, because you get excited to hear the text message sound, but yet its your coach telling you what time practice is, so its not that great.
All of this "texting talk" and symbols came from AIM. This was the first form of communication where abbreviation's were a must. Typing, No one wants to type to talk, so we made abbreviations for almost everything possible, and the sad thing is, almost everyone knows about it, just like the grand mother texting her BFF ROSE!!!! but is it a good thing?? I think it is. Doesn't make us sound intelligent, but we really are intelligent, to come up with such abbreviations, and very technological advanced. L8R!
